Joyce graduated from the University of Stirling with Honours in Sociology and Social Policy. After a successful career in financial services and share dealing, she undertook the accelerated LLB degree at the University of Glasgow in 2012. She stayed on at the University of Glasgow to complete the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2013.
During her studies, Joyce volunteered at Scotland’s leading law centre, Legal Services Agency, in their Women and Young Persons’ Department, gaining valuable experience in assisting particularly vulnerable clients in their immigration matters.
Joyce completed her traineeship at one of Glasgow’s largest legal aid firms, gaining experience in family law, criminal defence, housing law and private client work. Thereafter, she gained experience in a wide range of asylum and immigration matters at another legal aid firm.
Joyce appears regularly at the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, representing clients in their immigration matters. She has a particular interest in the welfare of asylum seeking minors and the special needs of this vulnerable group.
